Overview

CivicBridge supports a municipal government seeking to move permit applications and service requests online. We built an accessible citizen portal for applications, status tracking, and payment of municipal fees.

The Challenge

Residents had to visit government offices in person for most permit types, application status was opaque, and staff manually re-entered paper form data into internal systems.

The Solution

We delivered a WCAG-compliant citizen portal supporting online applications for common permit types, with document upload and status tracking. Staff review submissions through an internal queue that eliminates manual re-entry, and residents pay applicable fees online.

Key Features

  • Online permit and service request application with document upload
  • Real-time application status tracking for residents
  • Internal staff review queue replacing manual data re-entry
  • Online fee payment integrated with municipal payment processor
  • Multi-language interface support
  • WCAG 2.1 AA accessible design throughout

Results

  • Reduced in-person office visits for common permit applications
  • Eliminated manual re-entry of paper form data by staff
  • Improved application transparency through self-service status tracking
  • Expanded access for non-English-speaking residents
